FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED WARMLY BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER at the time of publication: 'Chris, neither of us seem overcome by people with generous impulses. Your kindnesses really mean a lot to me. Love -- Gene'. From the library of Camera Magazine. Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2010 Christies in London held the auction Photobooks, which included the work Dorchester Days. Wollaston, Massachusetts: Many Voices Press, 1978. by Eugene Richards. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 750.00 (€ 878.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Eugene Richards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Grandmother, Brooklyn, New York in November 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,657.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Photobooks durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dorchester Days. Wollaston, Massachusetts: Many Voices Press, 1978. von Eugene Richards zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 750,00 (€ 878,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eugene Richards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Grandmother, Brooklyn, New York im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.657,11).
