Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Italian carpet Merchant In Pompeii by Ettore Forti was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2010. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,281.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ettore Forti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work At the Fruit Sellers, which sold at auction in October 2003 for USD 53,775.00 (€ 46,321.82).
