Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work Near Dryden, Terrell County, Texas, 1947 by Esther Bubley for USD 937.50 (€ 722.65). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Esther Bubley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In the Waiting Room, Greyhound Bus Terminal, New York, c. 1949, which sold at auction in December 2012 for USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,895.95).
