This artwork by Ernst van Leyden achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2003. In the Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work A still life with flowers and an oil lamp sold for EUR 4,182.50 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 2,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernst van Leyden - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yantra, which sold at auction in December 2008 for EUR 15,000.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ernst van Leyden erzielte im September 2003 bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings wurde die Arbeit A still life with flowers and an oil lamp für EUR 4.182,50 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 2.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ernst van Leyden mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Yantra beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für EUR 15.000,00 versteigert wurde.
