It achieved a price of EUR 4,000.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33 %. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernst van Leyden - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yantra, which sold at auction in December 2008 for EUR 15,000.00.

Die Arbeit The harbour of Marken von Ernst van Leyden wurde im September 2009 in der Auktion Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 4.000,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33 %. Für andere Arbeiten von Ernst van Leyden mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Yantra beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für EUR 15.000,00 versteigert wurde.
