In October 2015 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work View Across the Golden Horn, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque beyond, Constantinople by Ernst Karl Eugen Koerner. The price achieved of USD 149,000.00 (€ 134,939.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, View Across the Golden Horn, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque beyond, Constantinople is the most expensive artwork by Ernst Karl Eugen Koerner that we have observed at auctions so far.
