In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Study Sketch for Tennis by Ernie Barnes. The »bidding war« ended at USD 76,200.00 (€ 69,856.99), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernie Barnes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sugar Shack in May last year with an auction result of USD 15,275,000.00 (€ 14,234,460.91).

Im November diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study Sketch for Tennis von Ernie Barnes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 76.200,00 (€ 69.856,99) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernie Barnes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sugar Shack im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275.000,00 (€ 14.234.460,91).
