In April 2008 Christies in Beverly Hills held the auction California, Western And American Paintings, Drawings And Sculpture, which included the work In the Foothills by Ernest Martin Hennings. The »bidding war« ended at USD 133,000.00 (€ 85,431.65), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Martin Hennings achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Indian Summer in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,553,000.00 (€ 1,057,325.71).
