Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Romantic Landscape by Ernest Lawson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,000.00 (€ 25,190.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Lawson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Melting Snow in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 292,000.00 (€ 335,863.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Romantic Landscape von Ernest Lawson im November 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 37.000,00 (€ 25.190,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernest Lawson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Melting Snow im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 292.000,00 (€ 335.863,81).
