Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Vista de Lima con el Río Rímac y la catedral by Ernest Charton was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 75,000.00 (€ 66,236.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ernest Charton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Panorama of the City of Valparaíso, Chile in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 206,500.00 (€ 288,841.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Vista de Lima con el Río Rímac y la catedral von Ernest Charton kam im November 2018 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 66.236,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ernest Charton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Panorama of the City of Valparaíso, Chile im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 206.500,00 (€ 288.841,92).
