Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Bourlon Wood Hill by Eric Kennington was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,547.79). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eric Kennington - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Trees at the Somme, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).
