Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Alayan: a spy by Eric Kennington. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 2,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 27,007.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eric Kennington - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Trees at the Somme, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Alayan: a spy von Eric Kennington zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 2.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 27.007,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Eric Kennington mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Trees at the Somme beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 50.900,00 (€ 73.095,75) versteigert wurde.
