Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work The Alcazar, Seville; and a companion painting by Enrique Roldan was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 11,875.00 (€ 8,351.50). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Enrique Roldan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spanish Views Of The Alcázar, Seville (Two Works), which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 28,000.00 (€ 17,985.61).
