Sold at the upper estimate price
In July 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Aboriginal Art, which included the work Awelye by Emily Kame Kngwarreye. The auction ended at the price of AUD 180,000.00 (€ 101,909.16), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of AUD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Admittedly, works by Emily Kame Kngwarreye have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Summer Celebration in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 596,000.00 (€ 530,863.10).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Aboriginal Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Awelye von Emily Kame Kngwarreye zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von AUD 180.000,00 (€ 101.909,16) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Emily Kame Kngwarreye auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Summer Celebration im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 596.000,00 (€ 530.863,10).
