Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work White Cove Forest by Emily Carr was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 36,000.00 (€ 28,132.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emily Carr achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Skedans in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 3,260,000.00 (€ 2,958,526.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit White Cove Forest von Emily Carr im Mai 2012 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CAD 36.000,00 (€ 28.132,64) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Emily Carr erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Skedans im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.260.000,00 (€ 2.958.526,18).
