Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Émile Bernard could be acquired at Phillips in New York in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Living the Avant-Garde: The Triton Collection Foundation, Evening Sale Part I auction, the work Paysage de Bretagne (Paysage avec deux Bretonnes et vache) changed hands for USD 1,143,000.00 (€ 1,047,854.79) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Émile Bernard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bretonnerie (Bretonnes dans une prairie), which sold at auction in November last year for USD 3,420,000.00 (€ 3,312,990.41).
