In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work Louis Pereira, Baron von Arnstein, facing left in black coat, white waistcoat and black stock, red-lined grey cloak draped over his left shoulder, curly dark brown hair and sideburns by Emanuel Thomas Peter. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,975.00 (€ 9,356.93), 20% above the upper estimate. Other works by Emanuel Thomas Peter have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,002.59) in November 2007 for the work A young lady, in white dress with blue ribbons at corsage, waist and tied in bows on her right sleeve, her shoulders draped with white gauze veil, wearing a black ribbon around her neck tied at centre and set with a gold brooch, sapphire earring, gol.
