Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Beach Scene by Emanuel Phillips Fox was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 90,000.00 (€ 53,817.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Emanuel Phillips Fox - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian The Cabbage Patch, which sold at auction in May 2007 for AUD 288,000.00 (€ 177,085.85).
