Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Venus And Cupid by Elisabetta Sirani was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018. It changed hands for a price of USD 137,500.00 (€ 112,603.39) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elisabetta Sirani - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portia Wounding Her Thigh, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 505,000.00 (€ 340,273.57).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 112.603,39) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Elisabetta Sirani mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portia Wounding Her Thigh beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 505.000,00 (€ 340.273,57) versteigert wurde.
