Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Eliot Porter could be acquired at Sothebys in Paris in November 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Importante Collection Européenne de Photographies auction, the work Forest Floor, Costa Rica, 1970-1979 changed hands for EUR 2,500.00 - missing the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eliot Porter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trees, 1958-1975 in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Eliot Porter konnte im November 2017 bei Sothebys in Paris für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Importante Collection Européenne de Photographies wechselte die Arbeit Forest Floor, Costa Rica, 1970-1979 für EUR 2.500,00 den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eliot Porter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trees, 1958-1975 im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.600,00 (€ 29.933,20).
