In March 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Between Perugia & Gubbia by Elihu Vedder. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,368.75), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Elihu Vedder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Young Marsyas (Marsyas Enchanting The Hares) in April 2013 with an auction result of USD 93,750.00 (€ 71,195.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im März 2009 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Between Perugia & Gubbia von Elihu Vedder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 10.368,75) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elihu Vedder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Young Marsyas (Marsyas Enchanting The Hares) im April 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 93.750,00 (€ 71.195,32).
