In July 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work But Mordred Laid His Ear Beside The Door And There Half Heard - The Coming Of Arthur by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,606.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work And all generations shall call her blessed in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 44,683.57).
