In October 2013 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian, which included the work You Don'T Have To Explain by Eko Nugroho. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 187,500.00 (€ 17,792.78), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Eko Nugroho have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seneng Kuwi Larang Regane (Happiness is Expensive to Buy) in November 2021 with an auction result of HKD 693,000.00 (€ 77,054.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2013 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian durch, in der auch die Arbeit You Don'T Have To Explain von Eko Nugroho zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 17.792,78) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eko Nugroho auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Seneng Kuwi Larang Regane (Happiness is Expensive to Buy) im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 693.000,00 (€ 77.054,58).
