Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Lady Playing A Lute With A Gentleman Seated At A Table In An Interior by Eglon van der Neer was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 187,500.00 (€ 173,098.23). Admittedly, works by Eglon van der Neer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Lady Playing A Lute In An Interior in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 912,000.00 (€ 722,433.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Lady Playing A Lute With A Gentleman Seated At A Table In An Interior von Eglon van der Neer im Januar 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 187.500,00 (€ 173.098,23) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eglon van der Neer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Lady Playing A Lute In An Interior im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 912.000,00 (€ 722.433,46).
