Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Tavern Interior With Two Peasants Making Advances On A Maid, With Figures Making Music Beyond by Egbert van Heemskerck the Elder was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,219.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Egbert van Heemskerck the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Doctor'S Surgery in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,341.84).
