Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nautch Girls And Bullock Gharry, Ahmedabad (Gujarat State, India) by Edwin Lord Weeks was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 72,876.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edwin Lord Weeks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work In the courtyard in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 541,250.00 (€ 687,664.22).
