Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction European Art: Paintings & Sculpture, which included the work Egyptian Beauty by Edwin Long. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,259.95) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Long achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Ancient Custom in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 776,000.00 (€ 831,903.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European Art: Paintings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Egyptian Beauty von Edwin Long zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.259,95) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Long erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Ancient Custom im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 776.000,00 (€ 831.903,95).
