Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work Portrait of a young woman by Edwin Long. The price achieved of GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,659.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Long achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Ancient Custom in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 776,000.00 (€ 831,903.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young woman von Edwin Long zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.295,00 (€ 2.659,38) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Long erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Ancient Custom im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 776.000,00 (€ 831.903,95).
