This artwork by Edwin Long achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2020. In the European Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work The Ionian Pottery Seller sold for USD 40,000.00 (€ 36,513.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Long achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Ancient Custom in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 776,000.00 (€ 831,903.95).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Edwin Long erzielte im April 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion European Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wurde die Arbeit The Ionian Pottery Seller für USD 40.000,00 (€ 36.513,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Long erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Ancient Custom im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 776.000,00 (€ 831.903,95).
