In the Victorian & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Gibraltar; from the series 'Daughters of Our Empire' High on the Rock that fronts the sea Stands alone our fortress key Lady of the Southern main sold for GBP 32,450.00 (€ 40,019.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Long achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Ancient Custom in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 776,000.00 (€ 831,903.95).
