Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Paintings, which included the work Figures in a river landscape, with harvesters beyond; and A figure by a pond with a horse and trap beyond by Edward Williams. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,275.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A river estuary with a windmill and cottages, boats in the foreground and cattle watering at the river edge in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,204.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures in a river landscape, with harvesters beyond; and A figure by a pond with a horse and trap beyond von Edward Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.182,50 (€ 6.275,29) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A river estuary with a windmill and cottages, boats in the foreground and cattle watering at the river edge im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.450,00 (€ 26.204,70).
