In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Anglers in a boat with a bridge beyond, in an extensive wooded landscape; and A girl collecting water with a horses and cart and gypsy encampment beyond, in an extensive wooded landscape by Edward Williams. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,066.06), 65% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Williams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A river estuary with a windmill and cottages, boats in the foreground and cattle watering at the river edge, which sold at auction in December 2000 for GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,204.70).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.935,00 (€ 8.066,06) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
