In August 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work A fireside tale by Edward Villiers Rippingille. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,951.31), 65% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Villiers Rippingille - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Settling The Account, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,288.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Im August 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A fireside tale von Edward Villiers Rippingille zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.951,31) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Villiers Rippingille mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Settling The Account beobachtet, die im November 2005 für GBP 3.600,00 (€ 5.288,85) versteigert wurde.
