The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,838.26), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward John Gregory have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rediviva: Great-Grandmother'S Wedding Dress in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,341.71).

Die Arbeit Reclining nude von Edward John Gregory wurde im Februar 2003 in der Auktion THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.629,00 (€ 3.838,26) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward John Gregory auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rediviva: Great-Grandmother'S Wedding Dress im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.400,00 (€ 21.341,71).
