In the Victorian & British Impressionist Art auction, the work A summer idyll: An artist sketching a young girl asleep in a hammock on the banks of a river sold for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,929.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward John Gregory - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rediviva: Great-Grandmother'S Wedding Dress, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,341.71).
