Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work Front cover design for Julian Franklyn's The Cockney by Edward Ardizzone. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,495.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Ardizzone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Saloon Bar at The Shirland, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,445.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit Front cover design for Julian Franklyn's The Cockney von Edward Ardizzone zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.680,00 (€ 2.495,19) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Ardizzone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Saloon Bar at The Shirland beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 6.572,50 (€ 9.445,04) versteigert wurde.
