In August this year Christies in Sydney held the auction Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century, which included the work The Locomotive by Edward Hopper. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,880.00 (€ 44,173.82), 37% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Hopper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chop Suey in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 91,875,000.00 (€ 81,140,157.20).

Im August diesen Jahres führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Locomotive von Edward Hopper zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 44.173,82) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Hopper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chop Suey im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 91.875.000,00 (€ 81.140.157,20).
