Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Figures on a beach; and A shepherd with his flock on a moor by Edward Charles Williams. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,414.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Charles Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A gypsy encampment in a wooded landscape in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 15,535.00 (€ 23,120.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures on a beach; and A shepherd with his flock on a moor von Edward Charles Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.115,00 (€ 3.414,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Charles Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A gypsy encampment in a wooded landscape im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.535,00 (€ 23.120,73).
