In June 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Figures before a cottage in a wooded landscape by Edward Charles Williams. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,842.55), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Charles Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A gypsy encampment in a wooded landscape in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 15,535.00 (€ 23,120.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures before a cottage in a wooded landscape von Edward Charles Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.055,00 (€ 4.842,55) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Charles Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A gypsy encampment in a wooded landscape im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.535,00 (€ 23.120,73).
