In November 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation, which included the work Figures On A Pier by Edward Ardizzone. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,312.39), 38% above the upper estimate. Other works by Edward Ardizzone have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,445.04) in June 2003 for the work The Saloon Bar at The Shirland.
