Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Edmund Tarbell could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work New Castle Poppy changed hands for USD 230,500.00 (€ 177,676.71) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Tarbell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Margaret Under the Elms, which sold at auction in May 2001 for USD 534,000.00 (€ 631,578.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Edmund Tarbell konnte im Dezember 2011 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wechselte die Arbeit New Castle Poppy für USD 230.500,00 (€ 177.676,71) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edmund Tarbell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Margaret Under the Elms beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für USD 534.000,00 (€ 631.578,95) versteigert wurde.
