Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work View Of The Piscataqua River, New Castle, New Hampshire by Edmund Tarbell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 125,000.00 – 175,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 133,000.00 (€ 85,475.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edmund Tarbell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Margaret Under the Elms in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 534,000.00 (€ 631,578.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit View Of The Piscataqua River, New Castle, New Hampshire von Edmund Tarbell zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 125.000,00 – 175.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 133.000,00 (€ 85.475,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edmund Tarbell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Margaret Under the Elms im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 534.000,00 (€ 631.578,95).
