The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,680.37), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Blampied - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fording the stream, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 15,535.00 (€ 24,327.01).
