Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Trysting Place by Edmund Blair Leighton was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art auction at Christies in London in December 2015. The price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,941.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).

Die Arbeit The Trysting Place von Edmund Blair Leighton wurde im Dezember 2015 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.941,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Blair Leighton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit God Speed im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 707.750,00 (€ 1.121.870,87).
