In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work The Shadow sold for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 97,464.41) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Edmund Blair Leighton erzielte im Juli 2015 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art wurde die Arbeit The Shadow für GBP 68.750,00 (€ 97.464,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Blair Leighton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit God Speed im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 707.750,00 (€ 1.121.870,87).
