Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Keys by Edmund Blair Leighton was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2017. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,054.63), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).
