ORIGINAL ARTWORK AND DESIGNS FOR PUBLIC ENEMY ACTION FIGURES, WITH ORIGINAL SET OF ACTION FIGURES
20 pencil and ink figurine designs on graph paper, and stiff paper (ranging in size from 8 1/2 by 11 to 9 by 12 inches), each signed "Ed Piskor 2020", [With] 3 box design sketches, and a Public Enemy Action Figure Set, (overall: 7 1/8 by 11 x 3 1/2 inches), Press Pop Inc, 2015. Signed "Ed Piskor 2020" on the top left, unopened. Scattered minor handling wear.
"One of my foreign publishers, Presspop, is the Fantagraphics of Japan, meaning they have excellent taste and put a lot of love into every aspect of the things they produce. When they hit me up with the offer to design Public Enemy action figures — my all-time favorite rap group — I couldn’t say 'no.'
The most iconic era of P.E. would probably be around the time of the “Fight The Power” music video, so that’s the general period I aimed for with the designs. There were about four different Flavor Flavs that I made before deciding on which one I wanted to go with. I chose this one because it had the most articulation in the arms and legs when finally constructed.
The thought with these pieces was to imagine Public Enemy as a Saturday morning cartoon team. Just a few fun images meant to convey some of the personality that they established on the records and in music videos."
