Pencil, ink, and marker on stiff paper (17 by 11 inches), signed "Ed Piskor 2020" at bottom.
"I think this may be the only page from HHFT that Fantagraphics Publisher Gary Groth commented on as I delivered the art for print. He was aghast at young LL COOL J’s boxing stance and bad contrapposto (both arm and leg from the same side of the body are forward at the same time). I wanted him to look young, twerpy, and inexperienced here, though."

Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Hip Hop, which included the work Ll Cool J. Original Art From Page 72, Volume 3 Of The Hip Hop Family Tree. by Ed Piskor. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,150.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ed Piskor have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Original Slipcase Art For Volumes 3 & 4 Of "The Hip Hop Family Tree", 2015 in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,752.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Hip Hop durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ll Cool J. Original Art From Page 72, Volume 3 Of The Hip Hop Family Tree. von Ed Piskor zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.520,00 (€ 2.150,54) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ed Piskor auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Original Slipcase Art For Volumes 3 & 4 Of "The Hip Hop Family Tree", 2015 im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 10.752,69).
