Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Study for "Ice Skater/Child Warming Hands in Studio" by Eastman Johnson was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 32,500.00 (€ 24,011.82). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eastman Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Little Soldier in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 856,000.00 (€ 693,173.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Study for "Ice Skater/Child Warming Hands in Studio" von Eastman Johnson im September 2013 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 32.500,00 (€ 24.011,82) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eastman Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Little Soldier im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 856.000,00 (€ 693.173,54).
