In May 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Interesting News by Eastman Johnson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 335,000.00 (€ 257,930.40), 68% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eastman Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Little Soldier, which sold at auction in May 2005 for USD 856,000.00 (€ 693,173.54).

Im Mai 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Interesting News von Eastman Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 335.000,00 (€ 257.930,40) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Eastman Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Little Soldier beobachtet, die im Mai 2005 für USD 856.000,00 (€ 693.173,54) versteigert wurde.
